With the technique known as water panning, the camera moves for a fraction of a second with the wave as it forms. This slightly longer shutter speed can create some beautiful smooth effects as the wave builds and moves towards the shoreline. This was captured during dusk hours at Second Beach in Newport. Not all waves are dark and powerful. Some are merely ripples. Water has so many personalities you can never turn your back on her, but she will always surprise you with her grace and awesome beauty.
